Hey. This is my 1st post here, as I generally forget to sign in, but I'm NOT the developer of this game, I just recently fell in love with Bullet Hell games. Also I don't know how to make my post fancy. Storm Strikers, the 2nd game from the Danmaku Unlimited developer just released and is 99c, temporarily. I have no played it yet, but I tried Danmaku Unlimited and it controls well. I didn't buy this yet, but this has got to set a record for a price drop. It came out less than 48 hours ago. Was considering it, but looks a bit too messy even for a shmup. Have to go read the regular thread. mrsamsa Well-Known Member Aug 28, 2011 55 0 0 Alberta #4 mrsamsa, Mar 9, 2012 I think it's a launch price. The app launched at 99c, but the description says it's a launch sale, so I assumed it would go up to 1.99 in the near future. tops2 Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2011 2,067 44 48 #5 tops2, Mar 9, 2012 ? It was supposed to launch at 0.99 cents as to not "penalize" the early adopters, and go up to its regular price..instead of the other way around like some games. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #6 awp69, Mar 9, 2012 Ok. Sorry for the confusion. That is the way, IMO, it should work. I thought it released at $1.99 and just dropped to $.99. I know it says "launch sale". Just thought the actual "sale" just started today. Opinions are kind of split in terms of the visual overload in the main thread. But I might have to pick this one up. Afterall, the king of shmups, Syntheticvoid, seems to have given it his seal of approval. flameon Well-Known Member Jul 26, 2011 1,172 0 0 #7 flameon, Mar 9, 2012 Its a huge improvement over Danmaku, way more challenging. DaGreen1 Well-Known Member Mar 9, 2012 159 0 0 Florida #8 DaGreen1, Mar 9, 2012 I'll say, it was tough. Though I'm surprised it's not using the retina display at all. It would be nice. Otherwise, it IS challenging and pretty fun. The music isn't bad, fast paced like the game. 4 out of 5 stars. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #9 syntheticvoid, Mar 9, 2012 Yeah, it is tough. Even on easy, I had a hard time making it through the game with 4 credits. That was just my first full play through. Now I can get to stage 5 before needing my first continue... But just do you guys know, even on easy, it's pretty tough. DaGreen1 Well-Known Member Mar 9, 2012 159 0 0 Florida #10 DaGreen1, Mar 9, 2012 It IS listed in the Bullet Hell Genre. Those games aren't meant to be easy. Still at least this is playable for me, unlike Ikaruga. That's a game that was spawned in the depths of Hell to show players how much they suck. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #11 syntheticvoid, Mar 9, 2012 Um... I'd also love to get your opinion on which Shmups/bullet hell games I should get for the ipod touch. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #14 awp69, Mar 10, 2012 Yep, petty much said the same thing earlier in the thread. Still haven't taken the dive on the Cave shooters, which I know he loves, partly because of my inability to play them on my earlier device. But now, because I'm a bit intimidated by them. Love games like this. Doesn't mean I'm that great at them. I did play the demo of this dev's first effort last night and thought it seemed fairly easy so think I'm going for this....maybe as a test to see if I could handle Cave games without throwing my iPhone down in frustration. Also download Phoenix HD immediately if you haven't yet. For non-bullet hell, Dariusburst SP is as good as it gets and my favorite iOS shmup overall. BTW you should post your impressions about Storm Strikers in the games main thread rather than this sale thread (which probably shouldn't exist since I believe the rules say release sales don't count), and may be deleted. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #16 awp69, Mar 10, 2012 +1. Shogun, rRootage, Danmaku Unlimited, All the Cave games... Everyone has their favorites, but personally I love ESPGaluda and Bug Princess, but both DDP releases are classics, and of course, the smartphone mode in Deathsmiles adds a ton of replay value if you want to put the time into grinding for all the items. There's mixed feelings about it, but I've had Absolute Instant on my device since it was released, and hey made the Touhou game available again late last year... I haven't checked to see if it's still available though... Kyotokei still gets some time outta me... And sorry I kinda went off. I don't consider myself THE go-to person for bullet hell games, Vally, strivemind, tops, coldcoffee, and some other members are kinda my go to people for finding out about games... So... Sorry for sounding like I was the uber BH fan... Got defensive. Need a break... Blah blah blah. No hard feelings. So you can check em out, but they only have the first stages, which don't really showcase how great the games are. But other than bug panic and blissful death (which are direct arcade ports), each of the shooters has a smartphone mode, which have different scoring systems. Deathsmiles has a whole equip system, where you can collect items in game, then outfit your character with them. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
