Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #5 Gabrien, Aug 20, 2013 Let me get this out of the way first: the controls are problematic. You swipe anywhere on the screen to move, but there's a sort of "dead zone" which amounts to gentle, slow swipes being all but ignored, while sharp, fast swipes result in exaggerated movement. Clearly this is by design, and it is possible to get used to it, and I am actually still in two minds as to whether this actually presents a "fair" challenge, but really, it's difficult to come up with a good reason why something as simple and intuitive as 1:1 movement was not implemented instead. That said, the game itself is fairly outstanding. The gameplay and design ethos recall some of the better titles from consoles like the Dreamcast and N64, and really it's just a very pure and classic arcade experience. For $2, the amount of content, degree of polish, and overall production values, are almost embarrassing. If you are able to take the controls on as part of the challenge, this can be recommended with no hesitation. I plan to be spending a fair bit more time with this myself. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,064 1,340 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #6 metalcasket, Aug 20, 2013 How big is this uncompressed, Gabe? Everything Gabrien said is true... Including the bad controls. It's not unplayable, but it could certainly learn from the likes of Verticus in the controls department, or even a 1:1 relative touch would work wonders for this game. As it is now, slow swipes will do almost NOTHING, while somewhat quick and quick swipe will move your ship nicely. The "hold a second finger" to speed up is a nicely implemented feature. Everything else screams of high quality polish. klink ð® Spam Police ð Jul 22, 2013 1,617 0 0 No thank you USA https://twitter.com/BitGamerX #15 klink, Aug 20, 2013 Last edited: Aug 21, 2013 Is this game on rails? This is Robert from Skytrain Studios. We are super excited to have you guys playing Cloud Spin and we really appreciate all of the feedback! Gabrien and Exact-Psience thanks for all your comments and feedback! As to the controls, we are looking into that right now. Klink - the first game mode Tournament is on rails. It is more fast paced multiplier based gameplay. The second game mode Free Flight is not on rails. Essentially you are like a glider in that mode, soaring around the levels at your own pace. What I like to do most in Free Flight is ride the fans up as high as possible and dive like a falcon after presents. Please keep the comments and feedback coming. We are really excited about Cloud Spin and plan on releasing updates in the future! Lost_Deputy Well-Known Member Jan 27, 2013 1,773 0 0 Venue Manager Sydney #17 Lost_Deputy, Aug 20, 2013 Woot!
