ToxicBlob Member Aug 3, 2011 13 0 0 http://www.SinOrWin.com #4 ToxicBlob, Dec 14, 2011 Jamie of ToxicBlob here. Thank you for your anticipation of Sin or Win, I've had a lot of fun creating it! I think you're going to really enjoy playing Sin or Win. As Brad mentioned in his post I've started work on v1.1, adding in GameCenter and a number of other cool gameplay features. Do let me know if you have any questions or comments regarding Sin or Win. Or are curious about being an indie game developer. Quick SoW tip... be gentle with the cavemen. Some players often start by powerfully flicking the cavemen. I shied away from encouraging this as it gets really, really, really tiring. Best to be quick, but gentle. slewis7 Well-Known Member Apr 6, 2011 3,775 41 48 Male Retired! Houston, TX #5 slewis7, Dec 15, 2011 Early game impressions The first thing that struck me is how pretty the graphics are and with a very nice style. The gameplay seems really simple, but I suspect there are hidden depths that need to be figured out to get high scores. The game has cavemen that appear periodically and there are clouds that appear for a while and then reappear elsewhere. There are two ways to play. To "win", save the cavemen by flicking them into the cloud. Keeping them aloft longer increases the score. If they fall into the pit, the pit fills in a bit. When the pit gets full, it is game over. If you play to "sin", get them into the pit and not the cloud. Periodically, various enemies show up that zap your cavemen in different ways and they all are very cool looking. The gameplay seems pretty fun, but until I figure out how to really play this, I am not sure how much longevity this will have. The game cries out for Game Center leader board support, so it a good thing the developer will be adding this. I am looking forward to the Game Center update so I can see if many other folks are as pathetic as I am at this. Perhaps by then, I will be better. I am enjoying your game. Hopefully, the Touch Arcade review will show up soon and get more folks here playing this little gem. The game definitely has a bit of challenge to it. cabdog Well-Known Member Mar 14, 2011 573 0 0 #10 cabdog, Dec 16, 2011 Even after reading the posts, I'm still pretty lost on this game. Would someone please give me another quick run down on what I'm supposed to be doing? Sorry to ask. Thanks! slewis7 Well-Known Member Apr 6, 2011 3,775 41 48 Male Retired! Houston, TX #11 slewis7, Dec 16, 2011 I think much of the enjoyment of the game is figuring out what to do. I have found it much easier to play to win and that involves keeping your cavemen up in the air as much as possible and making sure as many of them as possible get safely to the cloud and not into the pit. Also, you can interact with the enemies. Make sure when the dragon appears that you pull him into the pit which reduces it's height - helpful for both the sin and win scoring approaches. I think Brad Nicholson's front page review does a good job of describing the game's attributes and faults, but I would still award it a better score because the gameplay seems pretty unique and also the really great stylish graphics. Hopefully, the gameplay and scoring will get improved with future updates. And we need that leader board support now.. unseenthings Member Mar 9, 2010 24 0 0 iOS Programmer Memphis, TN http://www.unseenthings.net/ #12 unseenthings, Dec 17, 2011 I like this game a LOT. It takes a while to really understand what you're trying to do, but I think that's part of the magic -- there's a lot more depth to it the more you play (and understand) it. It looks fantastic and plays very nicely. And it's a unique game for the app store. I *finally* managed to get a 5 star rank in the game after figuring out a few things (hint: keep one or two of the guys around for a while) but I don't know that I could do that again just yet. Leaderboards would be great, but they're supposed to be on the way.
