Abstract visuals light up and change colors with the music, creating a playable light show. Precise controls let you deftly maneuver among ever-growing swarms, leading them towards strings which explode the swarms once plucked. The game features two modes, one for each track. One track is faster and upbeat, with arcade-style gameplay to match. The other track is darker and more ambient, with more relaxed gameplay. Best played with headphones. Astral is currently free until July 7. If you were on the fence before, now's the time to get it. In the US store, it currently has 7 ratings and an average of 5 stars. If you enjoy the game, be sure to leave a good review or rating on the App Store. I'd really appreciate it. And if you're on Facebook, be sure to check out the Astral page! Had this on my wish-list since the day it came out, but there's been so many other games that I've been waiting for coming out, so this one sort of fell under my radar... =o/ rann Well-Known Member Feb 14, 2011 934 0 16 #7 rann, Jul 5, 2011 Thanks for making it free! emitcollect Well-Known Member Jul 22, 2009 61 0 0 #8 emitcollect, Jul 5, 2011 You're welcome. Yeah, I'm afraid I haven't had time to push Astral very hard, so hardly anyone knows about it! And I want to make sure we've got a few good players around when the leaderboards go up. Qwertz555 has been getting pretty good, and I'll bet doodlejumper is too. Give 'em some competition. chess Well-Known Member Jun 17, 2011 436 0 0 #9 chess, Jul 6, 2011 This game is a keeper. Nice work. It feels like the "enemies" might move one beat too quickly (get cornered a lot), and I'd be interested in how it would feel with the option to control from the right...otherwise reminds me a lot of Everyday Shooter, which is a very good thing. Just another example that some of the best games don't need fancy graphics or "deep" gameplay. The next update will let you control from wherever you put your thumb down, or keep the fixed control but put it on the right side. Btw, you can probably escape getting cornered more often than you'd think. If you scrape the walls you'll notice part of your ship passes through it. Only the center of the ship is actually vulnerable. Yes! Coming in the next update. chess Well-Known Member Jun 17, 2011 436 0 0 #15 chess, Jul 6, 2011 Thanks! Hopefully my comments were taken as intended: constructive feedback. I really do love the game. emitcollect Well-Known Member Jul 22, 2009 61 0 0 #16 emitcollect, Jul 6, 2011 That's just the sort of feedback I'm looking for, actually. Let me know if the enemies still feel too fast after you've played it some more, and I'll see about tuning it a bit. Also, a good review or rating on iTunes helps a lot! chess Well-Known Member Jun 17, 2011 436 0 0 #17 chess, Jul 6, 2011 Sure thing. I don't get the old phone online much (I'm in Afghanistan), but the next time I'm on... I was just playing and am getting better, but it still feels just a bit off. I'm not sure if it's the speed of the enemies or just how physically big they are, but it's missing those moments in these types of games where you slip between two enemies because if you get between two of them, you are likely done. I'm also guessing that you don't want this game to be about "score", but I'd personnaly like the option to display and track scores, even if it were just how many dots were collected. Every now and then, I feel like I'm on a roll, but there's no way to measure that. A score chase would also likely make it more "addictive" (whatever that means). Strong work! emitcollect Well-Known Member Jul 22, 2009 61 0 0 #18 emitcollect, Jul 6, 2011 Hm. Try watching the video on the first page. It's basically a three minute run of me playing it after I'd gotten rather good at it (although I'm handicapped cause I have to hold the phone weird). See if it gives you any ideas. Do you mean like a seperate high score screen? Or are you playing the Solyuga mode, by any chance. The Sitarial mode shows your current score, dots collected, and your highest score. chess Well-Known Member Jun 17, 2011 436 0 0 #19 chess, Jul 6, 2011 Will do! I was and feel kind of stupid now. I didn't really understand what arcade and ambient meant. I hit ambient the first time in and just never abandoned that game. Now that I have and have played the arcade version, I love the game even more! Even the music is more lively. F'ing awesome game. Between this and Air Supply yesterday, it's been a great couple of indie days! emitcollect Well-Known Member Jul 22, 2009 61 0 0 #20 emitcollect, Jul 6, 2011 That's what I love to hear!
