Here is a tweet from one of the Slitherine guys: Philip Veale: GBM iPad gotten a huge boost in visuals since last time I saw it. I think it's going to be a cool addition to the App Store! Did I mention how Effin' PUMPED I am for this? And I don't get overly excited for iPad games too often...
"@Iain_Slitherine: More Apple fun. Great Battles Medieval iPad has been rejected because we did not want to make the gold purchases consumable..." Ouch. Looking like bit longer.
I'm quite glad in a way, as I'm looking forward to this but also warhammer quest and I wouldn't want them both coming out on the same day! That would be a nightmare.
**sigh** Oh well, I've been waiting for a year....another week or so won't hurt I guess. Anyway, I am confused as to why it was rejected. Plenty of apps have non-consumable IAP so I am curious what made this any different.
Can't the developer just change it to a bag of plenty that increases your gold by 500 gold forever and sell it that way, instead of trying to sell 500 gold forever, which is what I presume Apple is trying to prevent.
From Iain@Slitherine: Great Battles Medieval update - Apple seem to have given in on the consumable gold issue, but still rejecting it - trying to find out why.
Doesn't Apple review team always provide explanation why it was rejected ? If only problem was IAP consumables and they sorted it out, why wouldn't it be approved ? Is this delaying tactic to patch up a game ? A bit confused here
Today from Iain@ Slitherine: Submitting Great Battles Medieval to Apple for the 3rd time now. I wish they'd read their own documentation instead of making up rules... Fingers crossed that the "third times the charm" Anyway, I would love to hear from Iain or Pip what the plan is once it is approved....hopefully immediate release! Someone with a Twitter account should ask them... - - -
Nice that gives me some time to play warhammer and finish up frozen synapse before getting stuck into this.
Hi guys, The issue was that Apple insisted on a restore button and quoted their guidelines. They cut half a sentence from their docs saying something like "you are required to add a restore button for IAP" but if you read the whole sentence it tells you which type of IAP it applies to and it was "non consumable subsriptions". Our IAP is not of that type and it does not apply. It's pretty clear cut so we appealed. We received the same response copied and pasted with no further explanation. We appealed the ruling but gave up waiting. We added the restore button and resubmitted. Apple then reviewed the appeal after we had cancelled it and resubmitted a version with a restore button. They rejected our appeal and rejected the app even though we had already fixed the issue. So we had to resubmit again. We are now waiting for review...
Thank you very much, Iain, for the update. Is the release date still planned for the 27th or will you possibly release it before that ...after approval of course?
Wow apple customer service sucks just as much if your a dev or a customer Hope it's get through ok soon.
Noted when it's released on June 27th, they will have a two week intro sale for $4.99 (50% of their normal price). http://www.slitherine.com/news/item648
