I was just wondering (for reasons I can't explain) if there are any 2D first person non-turnbased games where you can move your character. The only game I can think of is Year walk... I'm just wondering if any developers came out with some other interesting designs.
As said, I'm not looking for turn-based games. And... Those two are also 3D. Again, I'm not looking for any specific genre or gameplay. The game must be: - 2D - first person - non turn-based - the character must move (doesn't matter how you control it) I think people are not getting what 3D and what 2D games are.........
There seems to be a disconnect here in terms of terminology. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would consider Year Walk a 3D game. While the objects within the game are rendered in 2D, it's a 3D game. Any first person perspective game has to be in 3D. Things have a height and width, and there is depth to the world. Things can be in the foreground or background, and objects in the background can be obscured by objects in the foreground. That's 3D to me. Games can only be in 2D if viewed from a 3rd party angle, i.e. side-scrollers. Nonetheless, I think you mean that it's a first person perspective game where the objects themselves are 2D. I'll think on that and see if I can come up with other examples.
Yes, I should have been more clear in the terms. I meant a game with 2D graphics, of course. That is not exactly true, although side-scrollers are the most common 2D games. I also have to ask this... Would you consider a game like "Quest Lord" 3D? It has (of course) width and height but there is also a depth to the world, so...?
Yeah... those have X and Y depth, so it's 3D. Hey Primoz, maybe your hope is in an Operation Wolf type of game. They tried it to look 3D, but everything's just parallaxed and doesnt actually have a depth in them. Wasnt there an OpWolf clone on iOS? Thing is... if it's 1st person, the player is already in a dimension outside of the 2D plane in the game. So yeah, there's technically no first person in 2D.
Now you sound like there were no first person games on the good old consoles... Operation wolf pretty much fits the criteria, though you can't move the character; it constantly moves by itself. Let me know if you find that clone.
