In order to escape the ever advancing zombie horde, players must use a combination of wits and brawn to be the first to the heliport and certain escape. The only problem is, the zombies are everywhere, they appear to be very hungry and your opponents would really prefer if you didn't escape. However, there’s no need to take this horde on your own. The game allows up to 4 other human or AI players to join in on the fun. AI players can be chosen from 10 different characters, each with a unique play style. Take on the Standard Game Mode, building your game board one tile at a time and killing zombies within the confines of the official Zombies!!! rules. Generated Town Mode drops the players into a premade town with Zombies in wait to make you their next meal. Survival Mode is the ultimate test: You versus a town full of zombies! How long can you last? Not Dead Yet is a fun expansion on the board game that includes additional cards and animations. MrMojoRisin Well-Known Member Jul 27, 2012 1,183 0 0 #7 MrMojoRisin, Jul 11, 2013 From their Facebook page: "ZOMBIES!!! iOS is LIVE and FREE in Canada and Ireland. Appletini Well-Known Member Jan 8, 2011 2,564 0 0 Ankh-Morpork #10 Appletini, Jul 11, 2013 Here's a link to the physical game's entry over at BGG: Zombies!!! Just played a round of the iOS version. It is fun enough, and the developers have taken an ambitious path rather than slavishly copy the appearance of the physical game, but it is still very, very rough around the edges right now (hence the limited launch, I assume). The most noticeable issue is that the graphics are currently hugely low-res and blurry, and a number of the interface elements (such as the round summary screen) are clearly half-finished placeholders. Other than the current low-res art, I'm very impressed with what they've done on the visual side of things; instead using flat, bleak gray tiles to construct the city, the game employs chunky 3D buildings and structures that have a very appealing Tim Burton/Tim Schafer neon-Halloween aesthetic going on. Players and zombies alike have little bases attached to their feet so that they resemble the actual pieces from the game, and they stagger, shuffle and hop around the city on these. Original game: Combat and construction are accompanied by dynamic split-screen animations that bring the game to life in a way it would have been easy not to bother with in a more straightforward adaptation. The event cards you play all draw on the artwork from the actual game, and are only let down by the same low-res graphics issue. The core of the game is intact, and handled very well, with a number of gameplay options (standard rules, pre-populated city, quick play, and "survival horror"). You can play with up to four opponents, both live and AI; any game you play you can save in the middle, and pick up again later from a list of saved games. The game does boast a couple of the best best design decisions I've seen in a while: the ability to fast-forward through pretty much every animation and even skip viewing an AI character's turn entirely if you don't want to watch it, and the ability to have the computer automate all the zombie/item placement and zombie movement via a single button press if you're in a situation where you don't need to manually handle these elements. I didn't really intend to get into detail with this post and there's a lot I'm leaving out, but I'd suggest keeping an eye on this app if you like solid digital boardgames or are a fan of the original physical game. I just hope the developers can prettify the graphics and get them high-res before the game goes worldwide. MrMojoRisin Well-Known Member Jul 27, 2012 1,183 0 0 #11 MrMojoRisin, Jul 11, 2013 How come the app info isn't showing up? How long does that normally take? Or did I do it wrong? MrMojoRisin Well-Known Member Jul 27, 2012 1,183 0 0 #12 MrMojoRisin, Jul 11, 2013 Last edited: Jul 11, 2013 This has been their baby for quite a few years now, so the graphics they have developed are probably the best they are going to be right now. Also, they are a relatively small developer, so there are going to be some "rough edges" that would have likely been polished by a larger one. But what device are you playing it on? I played on my iPad Mini, and the graphics seemed as good as on the Windows 8 version that they released earlier this year. But in my 3GS, I get some really low res textures, which is fine for me, considering that they weren't even originally going to support that device at all for this game. But if you're playing on a Retna device, it probably looks low res because they might not have optimized for it. I would give them feedback and let them know that is what you desire.
