Per Andy C83 Welcome to the TouchAracde Forums' Game of the Year: 2016! The winner of the TouchArcade forum's 2016 Game of the Year is... Crashlands, which was also awarded Game of the Year by the TA front page reviewers. It's a crafting RPG, with unlimited inventory slots and amusing dialogue. Second place went to Teeny Titans. Collect cartoon figures & battle with them. Third equal are SteamWorld Heist and Planar Conquest Steamworld Heist is a turn-based strategy action shooter, while Planar Conquest is a 4X fantasy game; explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate. The other top 10 nominees were: - Imbroglio - Super Mario Run - Solitairica - Tomb of Mask - Leap of Fate - Reigns Thanks to Andy for arranging this thread and to everyone who voted. --- The rules are there are no rules. Just kidding. The rules are here to protect us and make the world go round and stuff. So... no more than 10 nominations each, please. To be eligible for nomination the game must have been released on iOS in 2016. The nomination period will run from now until December 27th, at which point the most nominated games will be included in a poll. The poll will run for one week, and the game with the most votes at the end of the voting period will have won the extremely coveted title of TouchArcade Forums' Game of the Year. Game developers are welcome to participate but are reminded that nominating/voting for their own games is frowned upon, as are shill posts/votes. I don't plan on disqualifying any nominations/votes, so I'm relying on y'all to keep this as fun and fair as possible for all. This is supposed to a be a fun way to celebrate the many excellent games released on iOS this year so feel free to discuss each others' nominations, just make sure to please keep it friendly. And please consider sharing this thread on social media - the more people that participate, the more chance we have of uncovering a hidden gem or 2! And...I think that's about it. I don't really know what I'm doing, so any and all thoughts/suggestions are welcome. Cheers, and happy nominating.
Count me in, ten games that were top this year are: 1. Conduct This! 2. Mini Metro. 3. Puzzlepops! 4. Love You To Bits. 5. Perchang. 6. Super Mario Run. 7. Warpshift. 8. Mekorama. 9. Telepaint. 10.Duck Roll. Again a great year, I always think now I have seen it all but their are every year enough games that surprise me, so I am looking forward to 2017, Happy New Year in advanced everybody ha ha. The two best Arcade twitchers were: Loopmania and Back to Square One from Umbrella.
How about let's pick no more than 10 each, then create a list from there. Does someone else who still uses iOS want to do that? My current Android-y-ness feels disqualifying. In alphabetical order: Battle of Polytopia Crashlands Leap Day Redungeon Solitairica Teeny Titans Tomb of the Mask
If someone wants to organize it, and can put together some reasonable rules to keep things in order to determine the winner, I'll include it in our end of the year best games coverage. (Historically we've had lots of problems with these sorts of things because someone will just put up a poll and then there's all kinds of drama regarding which votes count and which are from shills or devs stuffing the box.)
I just realized there hasn't been a "forum game of the week" thing in a long time... what happened there?
Jumping on the bandwagon, too My personal top 5: 1. Planar Conquest 2. Demon's Rise 2 3. Avadon 3 4. Ember 5. Arcane Quest 3 Honorable mention goes to: Legends of Callasia
Picking just 10 is going to be hard. The fact I don't have any in common with RogerNL shows what a good year it's been. In no particular order: Crashlands Final Fantasy IX Sky Force Reloaded Tennis Champs Returns Teeny Titans Imbroglio Lost Socks Retsnom SteamWorld Heist Human Resource Machine And I've had to leave off some fantastic games. Sorcery 4 I've not got round to yet, nor Ys 2 or Warbits. 9th Dawn 2 I've only scratched the surface of, as with Planar Conquest. And the three catformers, Super Phantom Cat, Nekosan and Super Cat Tales, are too difficult to choose between.
I dont know yet who's compiling these lists, but here's mine (only 9 so far), in no particular order: Teeny Titans (Grumpyface Studios & Cartoon Network) Severed (Drinkbox Studios) Leap of Fate (Clever-Plays) Sky Force Reloaded (Infinite Dreams) Bullet Hell Monday (Masayuki Ito) Phoenix 2 (Firi Games) Thumb Drift (SMG Studio) Lonewolf (FDG Mobile) Tomb of the Mask (Happy Magenta)
We had an excellent year with so many great games that is hard to choose the 10 very best feom that. Also, we might have a few surpries before the year is over.
Going on memory, rather than doing the honourable thing and trawling through my purchased list for former joy-giving gems, I'l plump for these (and yeah, quite a few ports as per usual with me): Crypt of the Necrodancer Leap of Fate Steamworld Heist Bully Nightgate Retro City Rampage Mekorama (poor dev ) Imbroglio (poor dev x2 ) Rush Rally 2 And, because I'm being honest here, I love nothing more than chucking mute on, spinning some tunes or a podcast, and unleashing hell on my fellow gamers on edit///Counter Ops taken off the list, Andy!/// and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
